A new benchmark in workplace design with Convene Sancroft

The FX International Design Awards for 2024 have released their shortlist, with Woods Bagot selected for their design of Convene Sancroft St. Paul’s.

The FX International Design Awards celebrate exemplary interior design projects and products from around the globe. With over 20 invited judges on the panel, these prestigious awards mark a significant moment in the design industry calendar.

Projects are judged across 22 categories, from hotels and workplaces to graphics and products. Woods Bagot have been shortlisted amongst a group of 12 other practices in the Workplace Small category.

The annual awards ceremony will take place on the 27th of November at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, where the winners will be announced.

“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted in the FX International Design Awards for our collaboration with Convene at the Sancroft, St. Paul’s location.

This project has been two years in the making and has been scaled up and crafted into a new exemplar meetings and events destination for the City of London. We are immensely proud of this project and hope to see it awarded in the upcoming ceremony,” shares Peter O’Donnell, Principal at Woods Bagot.

Convene Sancroft St Paul’s is the single largest above-ground meeting room in the City of London, spanning 45,000-square-foot of meeting & event spaces. As with Convene’s first award-winning UK location at 22 Bishopsgate, Woods Bagot led the design for this high-design space across two floors. The space boasts a 900-person grand hall, 7 distinct meeting spaces, gallery space, and hospitality amenities bespoke to the Convene brand.

The building itself sits on Paternoster Square directly adjacent to St Paul’s Cathedral, surrounded by both historic and modern buildings. Drawing from this rich local tradition of craftsmanship the design takes inspiration from the Elizabethan era through bold colours, floral wallpapers, and tactile fabrics nodding to a palette of the past.

The Sancroft St. Paul’s location integrates a concept-driven hospitality product with architectural, vernacular, and experiential elements, making it versatile for any occasion. It balances grand architectural scale with an intimate, human touch through a play on scales, where subtle and sculptural elements create harmony. A key aspect of the design is its adaptability to various scales and functions. Whether hosting large conferences or intimate meetings, the space can be tailored to diverse needs, ensuring every event is executed with precision and flair.

The design of Convene Sancroft underscores the commitment of both Convene and Woods Bagot to creating spaces that inspire, connect, and elevate the human experience.
