Parramatta’s 8 Phillip Street has won the 2024 Urban Developer Award for the Excellence in Construction Innovation category. Designed by Woods Bagot for Coronation Property, 8 Phillip street will offer residents configurable outdoor living spaces, as well as a pool on the 18th floor, while the boutique QT Hotel accommodation will provide Parramatta with its first 5-star hotel.
The awards celebrated the best development projects across the country and were judged on a range of criteria including the degree of project difficulty, quality, innovation and new technologies used. This year saw a record number of high-calibre submissions from across Australia and New Zealand.
Global Design Director Domenic Alvaro says, “The vision for 8 Phillip Street is to create a viable living alternative to Sydney. This building will stand tall, honouring the heritage below, and making a bold statement about Parramatta spirit and vitality.”
A mixed-use tower with a unique reverse-step podium, 8 Phillip dramatically extends the ground floor public domain while architecturally framing the existing heritage buildings. The design celebrates the rich fabric of the existing St Andrew’s Church hall heritage elements.
Evolving from street to sky, transformative architecture embraces the context of its surrounds delivering a world-class precinct that extends vertically, layering local heritage, amenity, hospitality and residences to become an unrivalled destination.
Construction of 8 Phillip Street is slated to be complete by 2025.
