Following on from three exciting wins at the AHEAD Awards Europe, The Londoner has now seen even more success at the AHEAD Awards Global – a celebration and culmination of all the winners around the world. 

The super-boutique hotel has taken home titles in the Event Spaces and Hotel New Build Categories, as well as receiving the highly coveted ‘Ultimate Accolade’ – the headline award that takes into consideration all category winners.

The AHEAD Global Awards are hosted by industry-leading publication, Sleeper. Following a series of award ceremonies for each region (EU, MEA, the Americas and Asia), the AHEAD Global Awards celebrate the achievements of the regional winners and select an ‘Ultimate’ winning hotel. The judges are comprised of architects, interior designers, hoteliers and industry commentators and the submissions are made up of the best of the best in hospitality experience and design.

The Londoner, an Edwardian Group Hotel, opened its doors in September 2021. Woods Bagot led on the architectural design, working closely with Yabu Pushelberg, Arup and Blue Sky Building to deliver a one-of-a-kind urban resort.

The panel praised The Londoner as “a tour de force” and were in agreement that it was a worthy winner deserving of the Ultimate Accolade. “Every element of the design clicks together to create a world class property” commented one judge, with another noting “I raise a glass to the skillful way that this iceberg project has been delivered”.

The project was in great company as well, competing with another Woods Bagot project in the Middle East region, the 25hours Hotel One Central. Woods Bagot’s Dubai Studio led on the interior design for this project – which took home three awards at the AHEAD Awards MEA in 2022.
