W-B is transforming its existing climate commitments with a focus on both the practice of architecture and consulting on new strategies to deliver various practical initiatives towards de-carbonization and the growing green economy. Internationally recognized for his ahead-of-the-curve approach to ecological and environmental solutions expressed through design, consulting, and writing, Fortmeyer’s acumen makes this new partnership a logical next step for W–B’s expression of People Architecture.

Trained in both engineering and architecture, Fortmeyer’s career has focused on progressing sustainability in the built environment to address climate change and the natural environment, social equity and human health, and the application of green technologies to architecture. His professional interests are broad, including sustainable buildings and certification, climate action and resilience planning, decarbonization and energy strategy, urban microclimates and human comfort, and materials and circular economy research. These topics also inform his long-time commitment as an educator within architecture schools.
Fortmeyer will be based in Los Angeles but will work across W–B’s global practice to bring his expertise to the firm’s 17 studios across 6 regions.
