As part of National NAIDOC Week 2024, we are proud to share projects and stories across our Australian studios.
In the first week of July each year, NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
This years theme, Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud, celebrates the unyielding spirit of our communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.

See what some of our studios got up to:
Located on Gadigal Country, the Sydney studio held an inspirational talk from Paul Fleming, a professional boxer and a proud first nation Australian man from Wakka Wakka, Wanyurr Majay, Yuggera country. Fleming is recognised in the Australian Olympic Committee list of Australian Indigenous Olympians and now operates an Indigenous scaffolding company which focuses on hiring both Indigenous youth and adults, thus helping to close the gap. The studio also took part in a Giba-Nura (Rock Country) First Nations walking tour where attendees learnt about the history of Aboriginal people from an Aboriginal perspective.
In Melbourne, located on Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country, the studio watched the screening of First Nations Film Festival “Dig Deeper.” The film features four divergent Indigenous artists use their personal stories and historical injustice as a driving force to break through and create internationally recognised urban art. Meaningful conversations were also had over delicious food made with native flavors from indigenous-owned Mabu Mabu catering. The event also coincided with an Architecture With Pride event celebrating the diverse and queer Melbourne architecture and built environment community.
The Perth studio located on Whadjuk Nyoongar Country, Brisbane on Yuggera and Turrbal Country and Adelaide on Kaurna Country, joined an online Yarning Circle, discussing this year’s theme Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud. This year’s theme focuses on honouring the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations people, communities and culture.
