Supertall skyscraper Chengjian Meiyuan reaches 280-metre milestone

Luohu Financial Innovation Plaza, also known as Chenjian Meiyuan, a key project in Shenzhen, has made significant construction progress, with the 407-meter-tall supertall tower now surpassing 280 meters in construction height.

This development is a collaborative effort between Woods Bagot Shanghai and Melbourne Studios, encompassing a master plan and architectural design for a complex that covers 462,350 square meters.

The project is surrounded by scenic mountains and parks, and its aim is to create an exceptional “Crown of Greater Bay Area (GBA)”, integrating a variety of functions such as retail, offices, residential, education, and community spaces into a civic center. The design of the complex carefully considers complementary buildings and spaces, balanced business values, and future operations to create a new portal for Shenzhen and the GBA.

The supertall tower features a curved elevation, harmonizing with a unique layout that combines high-rise office space with low-rise apartments, ensuring functional aspects and a high land return rate. The project also includes a collection of four towers that align to form the northern periphery, maximizing open space to the southeast and enhancing the value of residential products with broader views.

With a focus on connectivity, accessibility, and sustainability, the master plan incorporates an integrated and experiential retail strategy. A U-shaped circulation system is introduced to connect all towers and retail podiums, addressing the challenge of uneven retail space distribution and high Floor Space Ratio (FSR), while also providing entertainment, leisure activities, and well-being experiences.

The project is expected to be completed by 2025, and it will stand as an inclusive realization of Woods Bagot’s rich mixed-use experiences and “People Architecture” manifesto. It innovates in ecological, experiential, and human-centric design for the future, with a vision to leverage regional commercial vitality.
