Melbourne Airport passenger traffic flows better thanks to new Woods Bagot bridge

Moving around Melbourne Airport just got easier with a new link bridge between Terminals 3 and 4 designed by Woods Bagot.

“The new link bridge reorganises the passenger circulation in the Virgin Terminal to improve the passenger experience, creating better efficiency at upgraded screening points,” says Woods Bagot project lead Alastair Flynn.

It is part of $30 million redevelopment of Terminal 3 that has also boosted the number of food and beverage outlets and improved movement between levels with construction of a lift, stairs and escalator.

“Passenger flow through airports has never been more important and we are very pleased with the outcome,” Flynn says.

Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus says it has been more than 20 years since Terminal 3 had such a major upgrade.

“One of the biggest pinch points for Virgin guests has been the security check points, and we expect this change will help improve the experience for passengers as they pass through screening,” Ms Argus says.
