Plans for new primary and secondary schools, 5000 residences, a town centre, a light industrial area and a hotel in south-east Auckland can proceed after independent hearing commissioners approved a rezoning application.
With urban design and masterplanning by firms Woods Bagot, Jasmax, Studio Pacific and Studio\Woodroffe\Papa, the coastal development includes 307 hectares of architecturally-designed residential and commercial builds, including plans for new education facilities and improved green space.
“This is an exciting growth opportunity for the region, with proposed masterplanning expanding Beachlands South’s access to education, housing, business and lifestyle space,” says Gentry. “The design team is closely with local mana whenua, Ngāi Taiki Tāmaki, to ensure the environmental impact of the development is minimised through a contour-sensitive design approach.”
