Woods Bagot is thrilled to announce that the Haikou Jiangdong Tiandi Mixed-Use Project, a visionary urban development in Hainan’s Jiangdong New District, has surpassed 80% construction progress, solidifying its role as a catalyst for the Hainan Free Trade Port’s growth. Seamlessly blending commerce, culture, and coastal leisure within a world-class architectural framework, the project is poised to become Haikou’s premier commercial and cultural landmark.
Designed by Woods Bagot in collaboration with CBRE and CAPOL International & Associates Group, the 130,000-square-meter development emerged victorious in an international competition, surpassing 42 firms. This milestone further strengthens Woods Bagot’s growing presence in Hainan, building on acclaimed projects such as Sanya JoyCity.
Christopher Lye, Principal at Woods Bagot, emphasized the project’s philosophy: “This is more than architecture; it’s a narrative that invites people to engage with their community and environment.” He added, “Jiangdong Tiandi reimagines sustainable urban living, merging economic vitality, natural serenity, and innovation to align with Hainan’s Free Trade Port ambitions.”
Organized under the pioneering “Three Zones, One Center” framework, the project integrates creative offices, ecological commerce, coastal entertainment, and art exhibitions. It features duty-free retail, gourmet dining, and tech-driven workspaces, all designed to create globally appealing destinations.
At its core lies a central axis connecting the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) hub to Jiangdong Seaside Park. A sunken plaza and shaded cloisters—designed to mitigate Hainan’s tropical climate—anchor vibrant public spaces. Six dynamic façades, including 3D LED displays and kinetic wind-chime walls, further establish the site as a social and cultural nexus.
The newly opened leasing office, Youth Lab, reports that 32 international brands have already committed to the development. With momentum building, Haikou Jiangdong Tiandi is set to propel the city’s transformation into a global hub for culture, commerce, and connectivity.
