Nike Rise, Birmingham.
Nike stores redefine retail as idea-driven hubs that connect sport, technology, and community through innovation, performance, and style. These spaces go beyond selling products—they immerse athletes and enthusiasts in a seamless blend of brand storytelling and interactive design.
Woods Bagot’s collaboration with Nike on the Manchester and Birmingham stores embodies this vision, bringing together sport, city culture, and customer engagement through cutting-edge digital experiences. “A collective team spirit shone through to successfully deliver the design vision and elevated retail experience for both stores,” says Peter O’Donnell, London Studio Principal and Retail Lead.
The 13,000sqf Nike Birmingham store is positioned proudly behind the famous brass Bull in Birmingham’s Grand Central Shopping Centre, seamlessly fusing modern aesthetics, immersive visuals, and interactive features.
Pinned as a ‘digitally focused’ flagship store, the Nike Manchester store is decorated extensively with screens, taking the customer on a visual journey as soon as they enter the store, through to checkout.
Rather than traditional retail, these stores present adaptive environments where shopping meets brand interaction. Reflective materials like brushed and polished steel, galvanized metals, and mirrored surfaces create a sense of movement and openness, amplifying the dynamic energy of digital displays. This industrial palette enhances the spatial experience, making Nike’s visuals come alive across the stores.
At their core, the Manchester and Birmingham locations illustrate how intelligent retail design can foster bold, urban connections. They are not just stores—they are vibrant intersections of sport and community, embodying Nike’s commitment to innovation and the pulse of modern city life.
