Woods Bagot’s design for Kayou Headquarters in Shanghai has officially been unveiled in the prime Suhewan area of Jing’an District. Spanning 20,000 square meters, the headquarters includes six buildings and the underground spaces within the Joy Center.
Kayou is a leader in China’s pan-entertainment sector, pioneering animation and creative stationery. Woods Bagot has transformed a former retail street into a cutting-edge headquarters, creating a dynamic hub for the creative community.
The design team adopted an integrated approach to architecture, interior design, and landscaping, enhancing the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The building’s form is subtly concealed, inviting exploration. Inspired by its surroundings, the design features multi-dimensional spaces that seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor elements. The architecture captures the essence of natural landscapes, with solid and void structures creating beautiful garden scenes. Inside, the “reveal and conceal” concept introduces organic corridors and spiral staircases that cleverly separate work and rest areas. The landscaping symbolizes an inner journey, with winding paths weaving throughout the campus to inspire creativity.
In this new office park designed by Woods Bagot for Kayou, every space—both indoors and outdoors—tells a vibrant, youthful story inspired by their creative IP.
