The Brisbane Live Master Plan is a unique response to a challenging site on the edge of the Brisbane CBD. The scheme is conceived around a narrative of connecting experience, designed to engage broad audiences, and stitch together previously fragmented areas of the city.

Project details

Two key formal elements — the arena poised as an overall mass floating above a thickened landscape form of the podium, span across the rail corridor and will house the function centre, parking and an assortment of retail offerings.

The podium as landscape provides equitable pedestrian connections to Roma Street Station, Platform 10, Wickham Park (Albert Street) and back into the city towards King George Square.

Straddling the Roma Street rail yards, the arena is capable of hosting Olympic and World Championship events, plus concerts and international, interstate and local sporting events.

The arena has a highly functional and adaptable bowl capable of hosting 18,000 patrons in end stage concert mode with a ‘mosh pit’ floor, or 16,000 fully seated, or an intimate reduced capacity of 5,000 for more boutique events. Surrounding the bowl are highly adaptable concourses, restaurants, bars, and clubs which can function as independent facilities when there is no event taking place.
