Tribes, not trends.

An iconic and innovative home for Diageo that celebrates heritage and the entrepreneurial spirit of their brands.

Diageo

Located in the former Transport House is Diageo – a multinational alcoholic beverage company. Designed to reflect the social culture of Diageo’s suite of brands, its office aims to be an exciting place to work and bring guests. Built around a central bar that allows guests and employees to use, see, hear, touch, and taste its products, the Sydney headquarters pairs Diageo’s stories with the history of the building – creating a workplace purpose-built for shared interests.

Project details

True to character, the design approach for Diageo mimicked the mix of a cocktail: base, modifier, and garnish. Neutral and grounded, but still charming, heritage is the base. Heritage stone and ceilings contextualise champagne bronze powercoat and molding details that allow the pops of colour and texture representing the Diageo brand (the modifier) to draw focus. The brands, or the garnish, are the heroes of the space – with the product display, innovation wall, gallery, lounge, and bar all elevating brands to a level akin to how a gallery displays art.

By using Transport House as a base from which to hero its own character, Diageo’s is a magnetic office where like minds can meet. Encased in history and elevated by location, the bar and surrounding space feel like a new classic – it’s easy to imagine it as the place where the next great cocktail is invented.

Concept

Three fundamental components of a cocktail

the garnish

is about … exciting the senses | a finishing touch | completion

the modifier

is about … balance | adds weight & texture

the base

is about … the foundation | place | soul

Encased in history and elevated by location, the bar and surrounding space feel like a new classic – it’s easy to imagine it as the place where the next great cocktail is invented.
