Just like a neighbourhood, the right balance of leisure and relaxation is key.
As is often the case in Macau, one’s imagination is the limit. In this showcase example, Woods Bagot designed and delivered an integrated architecture and interiors package for luxury retail as it’s never been done before. With stunning architecture and an open, boutique retail concept, Woods Bagot’s design for the 20,000-square-metre architectural podium expansion for Melco Crown Entertainment coupled with the integrated luxury retail fitout for DFS and City of Dreams Macau sets a new standard in luxury retail design.
Focusing on the integration of architecture and interiors, retail and hospitality, Woods Bagot’s first course of action was to design and deliver a 20,000-square-metre architectural expansion of the existing retail podium. The firm worked in close partnership with DFS, viewing them as an extension of the team, helping to drive the design to the next level. Upon completion of the expansion, a landmark DFS was inserted into a triple-height volume central area, crowned with a skylight and connected via a grand staircase that scales the space.

But the store’s uniqueness is not limited to this architectural spectacle. An open-retail format lends the space a department store-like air, full of fixtures, vitrines and lounge seating areas. The open structure encourages customers to flow freely between boutique spaces where luxury goods are uniquely displayed, from watches and jewellery to couture and beauty.
The customer’s journey, however, cannot be limited to retail therapy. Woods Bagot designed the shopping environment to seamlessly interface with a variety of other leisure options including F&B outlets, entertainment venues, a luxury hotel and, of course, the casino. Just like a neighbourhood, the right balance of leisure and relaxation is key.
With fully integrated architectural planning and interior design, City of Dreams is a compelling lifestyle destination with unparalleled world-class luxury retail.
Through sophisticated architecture, the conventional mall corridor has been eclipsed with iconic components and exciting form. Add to this innovative circulation planning alongside bespoke retail experience spaces, and Woods Bagot’s work on City of Dreams and T Galleria by DFS raises the bar for luxury retail design.
