Rising from a lively downtown streetscape, the Brooklyn Tower represents a powerful bond between the past and future.
Building upon a successful and ongoing relationship with JDS, our team was asked to provide interior design services for the lobby and amenity scope for The Brooklyn Tower located in downtown Brooklyn, New York.
Talk to Krista Ninivaggi about The Brooklyn Tower
Located adjacent to the landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn, the 6,000 sf lobby anchors The Brooklyn Tower while providing a strong yet reverent design that celebrates the building and its history. Using textures and geometries that echo throughout the bank, the design team carry the material palettes and design details throughout the interiors up throughout the 17,000 sqf amenity program located on the 7th and 8th floors.
Complimenting the variety of programs, the interiors also provide a range in scale – from a double-height poolside lounge to an intimate study nook in the library. The scale of selected materials ranges from large format stones down to antiqued bronze accents. The design derives depth and color from the natural qualities of the materials.
The building façade, delicately composed of different metals, is echoed in the interior design establishing a sensitivity in material with the use of stones and woods. Overall, the interior aesthetic exudes a manner that can best be described as a “modern classic”.

“We were one of many buildings tipping the scale toward fresh and compelling lifestyle-driven interiors. The current design ambitions of multifamily buildings are not that different from hotels. Both spaces are warm and welcoming, and as opposed to a hotel being an escape, a residence is a refuge.”
“We made strides to abstract our references for a modern day audience. A playful nod was incorporating the mercury dime, a reference to the former Dime Savings Bank. We clad the elevator lobby ceiling in round tiles, resulting in a beautifully intimate space with a textured vaulted ceiling.”
