Talk to Bronwyn McColl about Hotels
The critical move was to relocate the porte cochère to the side. This allows the hotel to connect directly with Mary Street, allowing the restaurant and bar to spill out into the street with planting and seating allowing guests, residents and visitors to sit outside and enjoy the amazing Brisbane weather. The cafe flows seamlessly into the reception and concierge areas providing an integrated arrival experience. The line of reception and bar blur, creating a new typology. Transforming from a breakfast gathering point through to a lively evening destination, the bar design allows the space to transition from day to night. The interior design reflects the strong Westin brand with timeless elegance, combined with a modern Queensland vernacular. The materials withstand the demands of a hotel and reduce the need for regular refurbishments. The natural variations of stone and timber ensure every room is slightly different.
