Assistant Accountant

About the Role

The business has local accounting and finance teams in its regional studios, supported by a central Group Finance function based in Melbourne and headed by 7C global CFO.

The Assistant Account role sits within the Group Finance function providing day to day support for the Group Senior Accountant to ensure effective and efficient financial function.

Key Responsibilities:

Month end accounting

  • Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, including fixed assets, prepayments, accruals, lease accounting amongst others.
  • Posting journals to account for the above.
  • Assisting in the compilation of monthly global management reports – extracting and reconciling accurate financial data, updating and populating workbooks and ensuring accuracy of financial information provided to the business.
  • Assisting in the completion of reporting obligations including BAS, IAS & FBT.
  • Banking facility register maintenance.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as directed.

Day to day accounting

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Processing staff expenses in Concur
  • Assistance with Concur expense training and support.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as directed
  • Prepare and respond to ABS surveys
  • Assist in BST maintenance including project set-up

Accounts payable

  • Assist as required in the coding and allocation of AP items
  • Assist in AMEX reconciliation process as requested
  • Banking user access maintenance and updates

Audit and year end compliance

  • Assist the Senior Accountant and Financial Controller in the preparation of annual financial statements through the preparation of financial analysis and maintenance of reconciliation items
  • Assist the Senior Accountant and Financial Controller in responding to Audit queries as it applies to support for balance sheet items, and other ad hoc requests including project information and reconciliations.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting or Commerce.
  • Chartered or Certified CPA or in process of completing is highly desirable.
  • 2-3+ years’ experience in an Accounts Assistant role or similar
  • Experience with accounting software, and experience with BST is an advantage.
  • A high level of skill in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook is essential.
