The public space overlay of the 3 International Towers lobbies in the highly acclaimed Barangaroo.
Taking cues from the existing curved geometry and developing a meaningful linking narrative, the project was predicated on a sense of respect for the base building designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour and was approached in a similar way to a heritage building.
The design is composed of a ‘kit of parts’ to create a quality and authentic space that is cohesive with the lobby design. A monolithic sculptural concierge desk is the main point of arrival for guests. It’s curved and enclosing edges are a signature throughout, exploiting the warmth of natural timbers and imbuing the space with pockets of containment.

A centrally hung staircase links the ground floor to the mezzanine levels and the adjacent food hall, while the VIP areas behind reception offer a comfortable cocooning space, with an adjacent private area offering individual workstations. Large-scale planters are used throughout the lobby space as focal points. By pulling nature in such a significant form into the lobby, the distinction between indoor and outdoors is blurred and the space is expanded.
